Munich, Germany: Infineon Technologies started up production of its 32bit embedded flash microcontrollers for automotive applications. The driving force behind the new MCUs is 130nm technology.

The AUDO-NG family, which consists of the TC1796 and the TC1766 microcontrollers, will help to combine improved performance, reliability and safety with minimum fuel consumption and emissions, claims the German chip maker. Among the applications it’s aimed at are engine and gearbox control systems in light vehicles, trucks, and motorcycles.
