Yorkshire, England: An orchestra of computer-controlled musical instruments, actuated by a selection of solenoids developed by NSF Controls, forms the core of a sound presentation that's entertaining all visitors to the Tower of David Museum in Jerusalem, Israel.
The Soundscapes Exhibition is installed in the museum's openair courtyard. It comprises numerous oversized instruments, including a harp, drums, tambourines, bells, and contrabass, which are automatically played by computer command. Mechanical arms actuated by the NSF rotary and tubular solenoids play the instruments. Each instrument, then, is able to create its own sound.
